“A singer/songwriter who will seduce you with her voice and then belt you with the blues.”

With a voice as powerful as it is sultry and sweet, singer/songwriter Christine Sweeney deftly handles poppy and playful without sacrificing genuine emotion to create her version of indie blues pop. Her sometimes gritty, sometimes sugary vocals soar over a rhythmic guitar to build songs that are heavily focused on the feel of the lyrics, but also illustrate that she’s no stranger to complexities in harmony.

Christine has opened for national acts such as Graham Parker, Jill Sobule, China Crisis and Nine Days. Folk DJ Joltin’ Joe Pszonek (of Radio Nowhere) described her as a singer/songwriter who “will seduce you with her voice and then belt you with the blues.

Christine has played at the Connecticut Folk Fest and Falcon Ridge Folk Fest, and on WFUV DJ John Platt’s tastemaker “On Your Radar” concert series.

We are thrilled that Christine will be celebrating her birthday at Grounds & Sounds Café with her amazing band, The Dirty Stayouts!
