“Cole’s work as a singer-songwriter pulls from genres such as soul, jazz, chamber pop, 70’s soft rock, and theater.”

Cole Fortier is a composer of classical music, a piano driven singer-songwriter, and a performer known for his distinctly varied musical palette and output of emotional works. He is currently wrapping up his masters degree in Music Composition at Stony Brook University. Born and raised in Port Jefferson, music was always a part of his family and his father (Andrew Fortier) is an acclaimed singer-songwriter himself.

Together with his father and sister Andie Juliette, they perform as a family trio called Tricycle. In addition to performing with them and as a solo artist, Cole also recently joined the progressive pop/rock band Anything Ever. Cole’s work as a singer-songwriter pulls from genres such as soul, jazz, chamber pop, 70’s soft rock, and theater. He has released an EP of original music entitled Cafe Nostalgia as well as various singles since that will eventually accumulate as his next album. As a classical composer, his music has been written for and performed by the Stony Brook Contemporary Chamber Players, Crane School of Music Concert Choir and various Crane Chamber Ensembles. In 2023, he composed music for the immersive outdoor Forest Music installation at The Wild Center natural museum in Tupper Lake, New York.

Performing at Grounds and Sounds is a full circle moment for Cole as some of his earliest performances were a part of the Grounds and Sounds concert series.

The show begins with an Open Mic at 7:30 p.m! (signup at 7:00); the main act goes on at about 8:15.
